Making the decision to take on a bird as a pet is a big one. There are many responsibilities that come with being a bird owner and it is important to make certain you can live up to the expectations that it will need. At the same time, owning a bird can bring a lot of joy and fun.
The pet that I finally decided to buy is An African Grey parrot. Previously I had just been a cat and dog lover and owning a bird never occurred to me. That was until I watched my friend together with her parrot. I was amazed that a bird could show so much affection towards a human being. The way the bird spoke, the way it flew to sit on my friend’s shoulder, the expressions on its face. All of these actions just totally amazed me and thoughts I had about owning a cat or a dog were falling by the wayside. Watching my friend with her pet bird made me realize that owning a bird as a pet was a better option for me than owning a cat or dog. Straight away I went home to look more into owning a bird as a pet.
The world wide web gave me lots of advice and information. I was able to learn how to train a bird, signs to recognize to discover out if they are happy, sick or sad. I also found out how to teach them to speak and what a bird will expect from me as its owner. The internet also revealed to me that there was no pet shop in my town selling birds and I could not find a breeder in my town either.
I decided to broaden my search for a breeder and straight away ended up on a website called Buy Sell Birds. This website listed breeders and private sellers from all over the UK. The breeders and sellers could place their ad for free as well as their telephone number. There were lots of sections of birds for sale IE canaries, budgerigars and just what I was looking for. African Grey parrots.
The first advert caught my eye straight away. It was an eight year old African Grey Parrot and the telephone number of the retailer was shown and I picked up the phone desperate to find out more. Within half an hour, I had received an email with lots of more pictures and descriptions of the bird. My mind was made up and I was going to buy my perfect pet. The seller did not live in my town and the website Buy Sell Birds was able to recommend a bird courier.
Today, the family adores our new African Grey parrot called Rosie. Everyday she speaks new words that she has picked up from us. She also loves to sit there and entertain us all.
